UniQuest & Sustainability

Sustainability is an increasingly important topic in all aspects of our lives, including the travel sector.

With the growing awareness of the impact of our behaviour on the environment, UniQuest is also committed to sustainable practices.

This shift towards sustainability aims to ensure conservation of natural resources, protection of biodiversity and minimising negative impacts on local communities.

Below are some key aspects related to our vision of sustainability.

Environmentally friendly means of transport:

One of the biggest sustainability challenges is reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In all our trips, we make maximum efforts to implement eco-friendly means of transport, such as electric vehicles and hybrid buses, to reduce the carbon footprint of our trips. For the local transports during the trips, we maximise the use of public transport and also sensitise our customers/travellers to do so to the maximum extent.

Sustainable accommodations:

UniQuest also focuses on promoting sustainable accommodations, such as eco-lodges and eco-friendly hotels. These accommodations are designed to minimise environmental impact, using renewable energy sources, water-saving systems and waste management practices. It also supports local communities by promoting sustainable tourism that shows respect for local traditions and culture.

Awareness & education:

We fully realise that sustainability in the travel sector is not just about implementing green practices, but also about increasing travellers’ awareness and education. During travel discussions with our Travellers, we therefore try to make them aware of sustainable choices, such as reducing waste, supporting local communities and respecting the natural environment. By raising awareness, our Travellers can actively contribute to sustainable development.

Protection of biodiversity:

Sustainability also includes biodiversity conservation. With UniQuest, we therefore support conservation organisations and local communities to protect ecosystems and preserve endangered species. We actively promote responsible wildlife tourism and we support local conservation projects. In this way, our travellers can enjoy the beauty of nature while also contributing to its protection.

The Green Plus!

To further highlight sustainability, we are pleased to announce a new partnership with “The Green Plus”. This partnership allows all your trips to be offset by default or individually as you wish!

About The Green Plus

The Green Plus is a Dutch company founded to make offsetting travel accessible and easy. The Green Plus has designed a way to seamlessly integrate with our booking system, showing per trip what the environmental impact would be, so that we can immediately offer the option to offset travel once a booking is confirmed.

Compensating your trip, what exactly does this entail?

Simply put, every trip has a negative impact on the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and thus on climate change. To reduce this negative impact, it must be calculated and ultimately offset by funding projects that have a positive impact on the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Think of projects that provide cleaner cooking alternatives to families in developing countries or projects that store and extract carbon from the air.

Leave a legacy, not a footprint!
