UniQuest & Sustainability
Sustainability is a topic that is becoming increasingly important in all aspects of our lives, including the travel industry. With the growing awareness of the impact of our behaviour on the environment, UniQuest also strives for sustainable practices. This shift towards sustainability aims to ensure the conservation of natural resources, protection of biodiversity and minimising negative effects on local communities.
Based on our efforts regarding sustainability, UniQuest recently received the Travelife Partner Award.
Travelife – established with support from the European Commission – is an internationally leading sustainability certification for the travel industry.
More than 100 criteria
UniQuest reported on more than 100 sustainability criteria covering matters such as the sustainable operation of offices, the product range, human rights, the development of a sustainable policy regarding transport, accommodations, suppliers of activities and excursions, etc. The Travelife standard covers the ISO 26000 themes for corporate social responsibility and is formally recognised as being fully in line with the UN-supported Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.
Below are some important aspects regarding our vision on sustainability.
Eco-friendly means of transport:
One of the greatest challenges in the field of sustainability is reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In all our trips, we strive as much as possible to implement eco-friendly means of transport, such as electric vehicles and hybrid buses, to reduce the ecological footprint of our travels. For local transport during the trips, we make maximum use of public transport and we also encourage our clients/travellers to do the same.
Sustainable accommodations:
UniQuest also focuses on promoting sustainable accommodations, such as eco-lodges and environmentally friendly hotels. These accommodations are designed to minimise the impact on the environment by using renewable energy sources, water-saving systems and waste management practices. In addition, local communities are also supported by stimulating sustainable tourism that shows respect for local traditions and culture.
Awareness & education:
We fully realise that sustainability in the travel industry is not only about implementing green practices, but also about increasing awareness and education among travellers. During the travel consultations with our Travellers, we try to make them aware of sustainable choices, such as reducing waste, supporting local communities and respecting the natural environment. By increasing awareness, our travellers can actively contribute to sustainable development.
Protection of biodiversity:
Sustainability also encompasses the conservation of biodiversity. With UniQuest, we support nature conservation organisations and local communities to protect ecosystems and preserve endangered species. We actively promote responsible wildlife tourism and we support local conservation projects. In this way, our travellers can enjoy the beauty of nature while also contributing to its protection.

Our sustainable engagement
By travelling adventurously, we broaden our horizons, learn to love all kinds of different places and cultures, and return home with a new mindset and new priorities.
But while we discover this beautiful world, we undeniably have an impact on the nature and living environment that we have just come to admire.
At UniQuest, we take our responsibility in this by limiting our negative impact as much as possible, contributing to climate projects & other good causes, and informing travellers about the ecological footprint of their trip.
No single organisation, foundation, or person can improve the entire world on their own, but we do believe that together with the entire travel industry, you can also make a positive contribution to people and the environment. Because seemingly small, consistent changes can create a huge positive impact in the long term!
Together with Greentripper, we support the Cambodia Wildlife project!
How you can contribute to certified nature conservation & reforestation
The CO2e* emissions from your means of transport to the destination undoubtedly have the greatest impact on the environment. First and foremost, we ourselves invest in various transport options and limit the number of destinations that can only be reached by plane. In addition, we always inform you about the impact of your choice.
Once you book a trip, you can very easily make a contribution to reduce the CO2e* emissions of your transport thanks to our partnership with Greentripper partnership with Greentripper, which independently calculates the emissions of our trips and brings them back into balance through their Wildlife Cambodia climate project. This VCS certified project fights against deforestation, elephant poaching, illegal wildlife trade, and creates sustainable income opportunities for local communities. For your contribution to this project, you will receive an official carbon credit certificate after your trip.
*CO2e = CO2 equivalent. There are in fact different types of greenhouse gases, not just carbon dioxide. These can all be converted to CO2 equivalent.
Leave a legacy, not a footprint!
